Release time:2025-01-06 clicks:

With the rapid development and widespread application of artificial intelligence technology, AI education has become an important pathway for cultivating future innovative talents. Against this backdrop, since the beginning of 2024, our school has actively planned and organized top-notch faculty to develop a series of AI courses.

On January 6th, 2025, our school held a grand joint launch event for the first batch of four AI courses in the Fourth Conference Room of the Feicui Science and Education Building. Over 90 participants attended the event, including Zhang Li, Dean of Academic Affairs, Zhang Yi, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, Gao Yu, Section Chief, deans of teaching from multiple sibling colleges within the university, all members of our school's leadership team, department heads, program directors, course developers of the four AI courses, as well as teachers and students interested in the event. The event was hosted by Hong Richang, Dean of our school.

The four AI courses are:

Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (a general education course for non-computer science majors across the university)

AI + Information Security (a freshman seminar for information security majors)

AI + Communication Engineering (a freshman seminar for communication engineering majors)

AI + Electronic Engineering (a freshman seminar for electronic information engineering majors)

At the launch event, Xia Na, Deputy Dean of Teaching at our school, first introduced the development of the first batch of four AI courses. Subsequently, a promotional video for the "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence" general education course was played, and an unveiling ceremony was held for the four AI courses. Finally, Dean Zhang Li and Deputy Dean Zhang Yi of Academic Affairs delivered guiding speeches respectively. Dean Hong Richang thanked the Academic Affairs Office for their support in our school's teaching reform efforts and called on everyone to innovate on the track of AI-empowered higher education, continuously improve the content and quality of AI courses, and contribute to the high-quality development of AI education at our university.

Regarding the general education course "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence":

To empower higher education with artificial intelligence, the primary task is to introduce AI into "general education courses". Based on thorough research on the achievements of relevant course construction in domestic and international universities, our school has synthesized common insights and organized a course team with national-level talents as the core, focusing on creating a "1+N model" for the AI general education course.

The "1" in this course refers to a "basic module" that all students across different majors need to master, which includes the concepts, origins and development, fundamental principles, classic applications, ethics and regulations of artificial intelligence, as well as skills for using generative AI and common large model software. The aim is to enable students to use artificial intelligence reasonably and effectively in their studies and daily lives.

The "N" in this course refers to "N customized modules" that are tailored to the characteristics of different majors. For example, for civil engineering majors, we will introduce the main patterns and advanced cases of applying AI methods in the field of civil engineering, laying an important foundation in terms of ability and quality for students to innovatively apply AI technology in their future professional studies, research, and work.

In addition, the course fully utilizes AI technologies such as AI teaching assistants, AI workbenches, and knowledge graphs to assist in classroom teaching, achieving a more personalized and intelligent educational teaching mode.

The course kicks off with an engaging introduction featuring ChatGPT and Sora, a large video generation model, and is taught by national-level leading talents and their teams in the field of artificial intelligence, making it highly valuable.

It romotes interdisciplinary integration and innovation among engineering, science, liberal arts, economics, management, and law, with distinct characteristics.

This course will become an important practice of AI-empowered higher education at our university.
