To further promote the integration of industry and education and help undergraduates gain deeper insights into cutting-edge intelligent robotics technologies and their application scenarios, the Department of Information and Communication invited Dr. Yu Zhenzhong, a researcher from Hefei Intelligent Robotics Research Institute, to deliver an industrial course titled "Key Technologies in Intelligent Robotics and Their Industrialization" to undergraduate students majoring in Communication Engineering at the Feicui Lake campus on the afternoon of December 9, 2024.
Intelligent robotics is a crucial part of modern technology, integrating the best elements from various fields, including artificial intelligence, computer science, and mechanical engineering. The key technologies in intelligent robotics include multi-sensor information fusion, navigation and positioning, micro-sensors and smart sensors, path planning, machine learning, and natural language processing. The development of these technologies not only enhances the intelligence of robots but also plays a significant role in various fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, and services.
In his lecture, Dr. Yu primarily introduced the classification methods, development history, key technological components, underlying principles, future trends, and pathways for industrializing intelligent robotics. The session was engaging and effectively sparked students' enthusiasm for learning about robotics technology and their research interests. It also encouraged them to think about the connections between their communication engineering coursework and robotics-related technologies, further inspiring their academic curiosity.
About Dr. Yu Zhenzhong:
Dr. Yu Zhenzhong, Ph.D., EMBA, is a researcher and doctoral supervisor, and a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto. He serves as the Secretary/Director of Hefei Intelligent Robotics Research Institute and Chairman of the Institute's affiliated company. Dr. Yu has received four provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards (first author) and honors such as the Anhui Province 2019 Economic Figure of the Year (Team Leader), Anhui Province Leading Talent, Hefei City Contribution Award for Economic and Social Development, Hefei City Leading Talent (Hundred Talents Program), and Hefei City Overseas Returnee Award. He is a representative of the 14th Anhui Provincial People's Congress and a member of the 14th and 15th Hefei Municipal Political Consultative Conferences. Dr. Yu also holds leadership positions in multiple professional associations, including Vice Chairman of the Anhui Robotics Society, Vice Chairman of the Anhui Digital Economy Association, and Vice Chairman of the Anhui Technology Manager Association. He is the Executive Vice President of the Harbin Institute of Technology Anhui Alumni Association.
Dr. Yu has led more than 30 scientific projects, including over 60 million yuan in funding for vertical research projects. He has applied for over 100 invention patents and has participated in the formulation of five national standards.
