On December 20, 2024, a meaningful donation ceremony was held at the Staff Activity Center, Room 207, marking a significant moment for the university. Retired Professor Han Jianghong from our school, along with his wife, Retired Professor Zhang Li from the School of Mechanical Engineering, donated 200,000 RMB to the university's Education Foundation to celebrate the institution's 80th anniversary. The donation aims to support the development of innovation research and practical initiatives at the university.

Professor Han Jianghong dedicated decades of his life to education, nurturing a large number of outstanding talents. He graduated in 1982 from our school with a degree in computer applications and remained at the university to teach, completing his graduate studies in 1987. With remarkable research achievements in the fields of safety-critical industrial control, embedded systems, automotive electronics, and network communications, Professor Han was promoted to researcher in 1993. He served as the Deputy Director and Dean of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering from 1994 to 1998 and later held significant positions, including Vice President of Hefei University of Technology from 1998 to 2012. He was selected as a leader of cross-century disciplines by the Ministry of Machinery, awarded the title of National Expert with Outstanding Contributions in 1996, and included in the National "Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents Project." Professor Han also received the 1997 National "May 1st" Labor Medal and the 2000 National "Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker" title.

After retiring, Professor Han Jianghong chose not to enjoy a comfortable life and actively joined the "Silver Age Program." As a key teacher, he went to Hechi University in Guangxi to support higher education in the western region of China, demonstrating his noble patriotism and selfless dedication.

The donation will primarily be used to establish "Scholarships" and "Teaching Awards" to reward and recognize students who achieve excellent results in prestigious competitions, such as the China International School Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National School Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, and the Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. It will also encourage and honor outstanding teachers and students who are actively involved in collective public welfare and are willing to contribute.

Vice President Ji Yihong of the university's Party Committee attended the donation ceremony and delivered an enthusiastic speech, expressing heartfelt thanks for the generous donation from Professor Han and Professor Zhang. Key leaders from the School of Computer Science and Information Engineering (School of Artificial Intelligence) also participated in the ceremony, witnessing this inspiring moment.

The generous donation from Professors Han Jianghong and Zhang Li not only reflects their deep affection for education but also showcases their strong confidence in and support for the future development of the university. This gesture will further advance our university's efforts in technological innovation and talent cultivation, helping to nurture more outstanding research talents for the society.
